For new members, the breadth of content in the Headspace Library can feel overwhelming. They want to feel reassured that they’re on the right track, and that they’re choosing the content that will help them achieve their unique goals.

To better support and provide our new members with more personalized guidance, our squad developed a first-week guided program. Using a well of insights gathered over weeks of experimentation and research with new members, this experience was designed to:

  • Reduce the cognitive friction to starting a meditation practice. Anyone can do it!

  • Create a sense of accountability and help members track their progress toward a clear, achievable first-week goal.

  • Increase members’ first-week engagement, thereby the likelihood of them subscribing/retaining.

  • Boost members’ confidence in both their own and Headspace’s ability to help them feel healthier and happier every day.

I was the lead UX writer on this project, working closely with product design, behavioral science, and design research to develop an experience that helps new members feel motivated, inspired, and empowered to begin their Headspace journey.
